Snow Thoughts

I greatly enjoy the beauty of the snow. I must confess I really don’t enjoy driving in it. And I thoroughly agree that it can cause unsafe conditions, accidents, and a slow down of work. But all the same, I like the snow and I will share some of the reasons behind that with you today.

The Beauty of Holiness

When I was younger, I saw a picture of a stunning rose, and the caption read, “Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” I knew the rose was beautiful, but I couldn’t figure out how worship or holiness could be beautiful.

This is Today

Our focus should be on today. And no, this is not some sort of “let’s throw a party like there’s no tomorrow,” endorsement. Rather, this is a call to look at what the Bible says our attitude should be towards our time here on earth.

My Soul Will Rejoice in the Lord

This joy is not dependent on sunshine, flowers, ‘good days,’ getting things we desire. It’s not dependent on physical health, the political climate, or positive feedback. The joy Jesus is offering is not wiped out by disappointments, disasters, or disease. The joy offered to us comes as we abide in the love of God; and nothing can separate us from His love.

The One I was seeking to know was God, and my want to know Him was much greater: it was a deep, desperate craving. Maybe you know that need too: recognize the driving desire. Friend, I have news for you. Getting to know God is not something that only the ‘elite’ can figure out.
