I greatly enjoy the beauty of the snow. I must confess I really don’t enjoy driving in it. And I thoroughly agree that it can cause unsafe conditions, accidents, and a slow down of work. But all the same, I like the snow and I will share some of the reasons behind that with you today.

This joy is not dependent on sunshine, flowers, ‘good days,’ getting things we desire. It’s not dependent on physical health, the political climate, or positive feedback. The joy Jesus is offering is not wiped out by disappointments, disasters, or disease. The joy offered to us comes as we abide in the love of God; and nothing can separate us from His love.

Sometimes, we so fully forget the most important thing that the only realization that it’s missing is a vague sense of needing something more: so vague that we can often do a pretty good job of silencing that nagging voice with family time, reading, social media, movies, news, or sports. But those fillers cannot silence the desire of our soul forever. The soul’s thirst can only be completely answered in one way.
